Technology for Community Well-Being
A total of 30 undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, enrolled in the Integrated Design course, conducted trial runs of ultra-lightweight 3D-printed prosthetic legs with actual patients.
This programme was carried out through a strategic collaboration with the RICE UTeM-Melaka Collaboration Management Centre, UTeM Teaching Factory, and Kedidi Global Sdn. Bhd. to ensure that all prosthetic legs function properly.
Each patient participated in user trials alongside the student team, lecturers, and representatives from Kedidi Global to evaluate the comfort, durability, and functionality of the prosthetic legs. This initiative not only tested the effectiveness of the designs but also enhanced students’ ability to address real-world challenges in the field.
Funding support from the Ministry of Economy’s UniMADANI Grant also played a vital role in the success of this project, creating a positive impact on the community while nurturing innovative and socially conscious graduates.
