INTERNAL AUDIT VISIT OF THE RESPONSIBILITY CENTER ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM EVALUATION MATRIX (MaPTeP) AT THE RESEARCH AND INNOVATION COMPLEX (KPI)

It is informed that the UTeM Energy Management Committee will conduct an internal audit of the 2025 Energy Management System Evaluation Matrix for Responsibility Centers (MaPTeP) at the Research and Innovation Complex (KPI) on the following schedule:

Time: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: Block A and Block B, Research and Innovation Complex (KPI)

Therefore, the Energy Management and Green Practices Committee for KPI, appointed by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), will welcome the arrival of the auditor who will conduct the audit. This audit visit is to successfully implement UTeM's sustainable Energy Management and Conservation agenda.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND GREEN PRACTICES COMMITTEE

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) has appointed the Energy Management and Green Practices Committee for the Research and Innovation Complex, effective from March 15, 2024. Among the scope and duties of the committee are to implement activities and programs related to energy management and green practices.

    1. What is the purpose of UTeM's Energy Management Policy?

    Answer:

    This policy aims to explain energy management at the Technical University of Malaysia-Melaka.

    2. What is the purpose of the UTeM Energy Management Guidelines?

    Answer:

    These Guidelines aim to clarify and reinforce the understanding of the need for energy, water, and vehicle fuel conservation to reduce operational costs for UTeM staff, students, non-staff workers, and visitors.

    3. What are the objective of UTeM's energy management?

    Answer:

    • To reduce the carbon footprint thru efficient management of energy, water, and vehicle fuel.
    • To reduce energy consumption by three (3) percent per year for every square meter of building space starting from 2015.
    • To reduce energy consumption by eighteen (18) percent in Fiscal Year 2020 for each square meter of building space (using Fiscal Year 2014 as the baseline).
    4. What is UTeM's electricity tariff?

    Answer:

    Peak Usage OPTR RM0.365 per 1kWh

    Off-Peak Usage OPTR RM0.292 per 1kWh

    5. What is meant by energy efficiency?

    Answer:

    How to use energy in the same amount or less and achieve better decisions/output. Using less energy to accomplish similar tasks or enjoy the same comfort.

    6. What are the importance of the EMGS 3-Star rating to UTeM?

    Answer:

    • The EMGS 3-Star rating is a rating that has been included in the UTeM 2023-2025 Strategic Plan, which needs to be achieved and maintained.
    • The Sustainable Energy Management System is practiced in every PTj to ensure compliance with a consistent 3% reduction in electricity consumption as stipulated by the Energy Commission.
    • Thru this 3-Star EMGS rating, UTeM will stand as an organization recognized for its excellent energy management practices and can serve as a model for other organizations in Melaka, Malaysia, and at the ASEAN level.
    • UTeM also becomes the first Malaysia Technical University Network (MTUN) and the second public university in Malaysia to receive this star rating.
    • To achieve SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
    • Helping to improve scores in the UI World Green Metric Rankings, THE Impact Ranking, and QS Sustainability Rankings.
    7. What are UTeM's achievements after 9 years (baseline 2015) in energy management?

    Answer:

    • Able to save RM13 million in costs
    • Able to save energy 35,699,662.95kWh
    • Average percentage savings 20.07%
    • Avoiding the release of 20,869 TonnesCO2
    8. Apakah yang boleh dilakukan oleh anda bagi membudayakan "UTeM Bangkit Bersama Cekap Tenaga"?

    Jawapan:

    • Padamkan lampu, kipas, penyaman udara, komputer, projector dan lain-lain peranti elektrik jika tidak digunakan.
    • Menutup pintu dan tingkap bagi ruang berhawa dingi.
    • Menetap suhu penyaman udara 24ºC+/-1ºC.
    • Melaporkan kepada pihak pengurusan sekiranya terlihat ada pembaziran elektrik.
    9. Bagaimanakah cara meningkatkan kesedaran kepada pengguna elektrik supaya dapat menggunakannya secara cekap dan berhemah?

    Jawapan:

    • Tingkatkan kefahaman staf dan pelajar berkaitan polisi kecekapan tenaga.
    • Libatkan semua staf dan pelajar dengan aktiviti kesedaran.
    • Wujudkan Kelab Tenaga di kalangan pelajar.
    • Komited dengan laporan ringkas berkala tentang aktiviti kecekapan tenaga.
    • Libatkan media sebagai medium promosi, website FB dan lain-lain.
    • Inovasi berkaitan kecekapan tenaga diwar-warkan ke luar.
    10. Apakah GGP?

    Jawapan:

    GGP ialah Perolehan Hijau Kerajaan. Pembelian produk, perkhidmatan dan kerja di sektor awam yang mengambil kira kriteria alam sekitar untuk memulihara alam sekitar dan sumber semula jadi, serta meminimumkan dan mengurangkan kesan negatif daripada aktiviti manusia.
